Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer direct billing?
Yes! I offer direct billing to many major insurance providers. After booking your session, you’ll receive an intake form where you can enter your insurance details. I’ll take care of the billing on your behalf. Learn more about direct billing.
Does my insurance cover your services?
Most extended health benefit plans do cover Registered Dietitian and/or Acupuncture services, but coverage varies. It’s best to check with your provider directly. Be sure to ask:
Do I have coverage for Registered Dietitian / Acupuncturist?
What is the maximum amount per year?
Is there a per-session limit?
When does my coverage year reset?
Even if your plan doesn’t allow direct billing, I’ll provide a receipt you can submit for reimbursement. Dietitian and acupuncture services are also tax deductible in Canada.
Do you work with my condition?
Nutrition and acupuncture can support a wide range of health concerns — especially chronic and complex cases. Here are some of the conditions I commonly work with:
Weight loss and metabolic health
Type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, or insulin resistance
High blood pressure
High cholesterol and triglycerides
Arthritis and chronic pain
Autoimmune conditions
Hormone imbalances (PMS, PCOS, perimenopause)
Digestive issues (IBS, bloating, reflux)
Anxiety, depression
Cancer recovery
If your condition isn’t listed here, please don’t hesitate to reach out — I may still be able to help. Book a free Meet & Greet to see if we’re a good fit.
What is your cancellation policy?
I kindly ask for at least 24 hours' notice to reschedule or cancel an appointment. Missed appointments or cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to a charge of the full appointment fee. Thank you for your understanding.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Most people feel little to no pain. You may notice a slight prick as the needle is inserted. Sometimes, you may feel a sensation of warmth, tingling, or heaviness. For patients who are very sensitive, I may use tuning forks instead of needles.
What happens during acupuncture?
We’ll start by discussing your health history and current symptoms. You’ll then lie comfortably on a treatment table while I insert the needles. I may add other therapies like cupping, guasha, moxa, or tuning forks. Most sessions last about an hour, and patients often feel deeply relaxed.
Is acupuncture only for pain?
No — while it’s well-known for pain relief, acupuncture supports the whole body, including mood, digestion, energy levels, and immune function. It is excellent for regulating the nervous system, bringing you out of “fight-or-flight”.
Do you offer meal plans?
Yes! I offer a dedicated Meal Planning Session, where I provide you with a personalized meal plan based on your preferences, goals, and diet, complete with macro breakdowns. Please note that a Nutrition Initial Assessment is required before booking this service.
Do I have to follow a strict diet?
No. My approach is always personalized and realistic. We'll work together to find a way of eating that fits your lifestyle and feels sustainable.
Do you offer in-person appointments for nutrition?
Yes! I offer both virtual and in-person sessions.
How many sessions will I need?
For acupuncture: this depends on your condition, its severity, and how long you’ve had it. Acute issues may improve in 1–3 sessions, while chronic conditions often require weekly treatments for several weeks before moving to a maintenance schedule.
For nutrition: many of my clients start with once-a-week sessions for the first few weeks, and then transition to once-a-month sessions over the long-term to help them stay on track with their nutrition. Overall, it depends on the complexity of your health condition and the amount of coaching support that is most suitable for your situation.
